Love is the Law

Love is the Law

These scriptures claim that the good go into some heavenly paradise, while the evil will be punished forever in some fiery region. This is the Law of the Opposites, or Polarity. Those who are good attract the good, and those who are evil attract the evil. But in the heavenly states, it’s found that polarity or chemistry within two objects no longer exists, and that Soul is free to do whatever It desires as long as it falls within a general pattern of the heavenly law. This law is: Love is all, and do as thou wilt.

Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, pg. 372 (Kindle 3rd edition)

I happened across this passage recently and I was very interested to read it. When I was a Thelemite, I of course knew and memorized the classic passage of the Thelemic current, “Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law. Love is the Law, Love under Will.” Contrast that with the quote from the Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, “This law is: Love is all, and do as thou wilt.”

Crowley’s Thelemic view is often misunderstood to mean, “do whatever you want.” However his statement continues with a caveat that one’s will or action must adhere to a universal law of love.

The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad explains this concept a bit further… The “do as thou wilt,” is in the condition of realization in the heavenly states, where polarity ceases to exist. In such states one does their Will as the Will conforms to the one Law, that is “love is all.”
